Q1. What is Greenfirst?Greenfirst is the name of The Laminex Group's range of environmentally preferable products. Products have been certified by Good Environmental Choice Australia.It is Australia's first surface and wood panel range to support the Green Star rating tools. What is Green Star Australia?Green Star is the environmental rating system developed by the Green Building Council of Australia.The tool helps the property industry to reduce the environmental impacts of buildings, improve occupant health and productivity, achieve real costs savings and show innovation in sustainable building practices. Who is the Green Building Council of Australia?The Green Building Council of Australia is a national, not-for-profit, property industry initiative.Its' mission is to drive the transition of the Australian property industry towards sustainability by promoting green building programs, technologies, design practices and operations. Why is the Green Star environmental rating system being used instead of other rating systems?Green Star has been adopted by the industry as an effective environmental rating tool to help designers achieve a sustainable building solution.It's also the only rating system in Australia that evaluates the environmental impact of Australian buildings at all phases of development and across all environmental categories. How does the Green Star environmental rating system work?The Green Star tools assess a project's environmental performance against nine environmental impact categories.Points are awarded for actions (design solutions, materials specified etc) that demonstrate a project has met the overall objectives of Green Star and the specific aims of the relevant rating tools to improve environmental performance. The Laminex Group has Green Star Accredited Professionals who will help specifiers, architects, designers, commercial joiners and furniture manufacturers to achieve the highest possible Green Star credit rating. The Greenfirst range in Australia offers environmentally preferable products for many interior spaces.More and more products will be added to the Greenfirst range, which will expand and grow over time to meet new Green Star rating tools and market demand. What is Good Environmental Choice certification?The Good Environmental Choice label is awarded by an independent, not-for-profit research and certification organisation called Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA). Where the Good Environmental Choice label is displayed, it acknowledges the product as meeting or exceeding the voluntary environmental declaration standards. Back to Questions Q13. Does The Laminex Group have FSC certified products?The only FSC certified product currently available from The Laminex Group is Laminex FSC™ Timber Veneer Panels. In order to offer this product, The Laminex Group has been awarded their FSC Chain of Custody (SCS-COC-001000) Certificate.Back to Questions Q14. Where are the Manufacturing Plants of The Laminex Group?
Q15. Why have Vizage, Aquapanel, Compact and ABS Edging been removed from the Greenfirst range?To achieve optimal manufacturing efficiencies, Vizage and Aquapanel have moved to alternative supply sources that have not yet been certified by Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA). Only manufacturing plants audited by GECA can wear the GECA certification. The Laminex Group is working with overseas suppliers to meet the requirements of GECA Standards for product certification. As Vizage and Aquapanel are no longer GECA certified, they have been removed from the Greenfirst range. GECA Certified The Laminex Group is the first manufacturer of wood panels and decorative laminates to have it's products certified by GECA to the Australian Environmental Labelling Furniture and Fittings Standard. This Standard is publicly available at www.aela.org.au. Where the Good Environmental Choice label is displayed, it acknowledges the product as meeting or exceeding the voluntary environmental declaration standards. The Standard is a comprehensive, life-cycle based assessment, which is scientifically and internationally recognised. Standard grade particleboard, factory laminated with hardwearing melamine surfaces suitable for vertical applications (available in E1 and E0). Wide range of colour options.
