The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has recognised the initiatives of The Laminex Group in promoting sustainability by granting the status of Silver Corporate Champion in 2007/08. As the Platinum sponsor of the Green Star Multi-Unit Residential rating tool, we are working closely with the GBCA on a range of initiatives including the pilot launch and breakfast case studies.

The Banksia Environmental Foundation has the mission of achieving a sustainable Australia by recognising and rewarding environmental excellence, promoting best practice principles and contributing to action-learning and education. The Laminex Group was a winner of the 1997 Banksia Environmental Award for Resource Conservation and Waste Minimisation, awarded to the Gympie MDF manufacturing site for it's zero discharge of wastewater policy. In 2006, 2007 and 2008 we have been affiliate award sponsors of the Banksia Built Environment Category.

In 2007/2008, The Laminex Group is a major supporter of the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) through being a sponsor of the Green Star NZ Office Interiors tool, and the Green Star NZ Training Course and Breakfast Series. We have also sponsored the Designers Institute of New Zealand National Conference in October 2007, with Greenfirst being presented to delegates during a workshop session.

Greenfirst featured at the Sustainability 07 Conference in Auckland in November 2007 and The Laminex Group is sponsoring the Jasmax 'Make Elective' competition. Jasmax employees will compete against each other to design and build a sculpture made from products in the Greenfirst range.
